Ingredients
for 2 servings
- 1 lb chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ cup hot honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons vinegar-based hot sauce
- toasted sesame seed, for garnish
- sliced scallion, for garnish
Preparation
- Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels. Toss together the wings, oil, salt, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne in a large bowl until evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the wings in a single layer in the basket (cook in batches if needed). 3. Cook until the wings are golden and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F, for 15–20 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cook time.
- While the wings cook, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring often, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in the hot honey, soy sauce, and hot sauce. Bring to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until bubbling, slightly thickened, and syrupy, 2–3 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl. Pour the hot honey sauce over the top, and toss until the wings are fully coated.
- Pile the wings onto a platter, and serve hot. Garnish with sesame seeds and/or scallions, if desired.
- Enjoy!
