Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Remove the apple slices from the pie filling can (reserve the remaining filling for another use). Arrange the slices in a shingled pattern in 4 separate rectangular rows on the prepared baking sheet (5–6 slices per row).
- Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured work surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough evenly into 4 rectangles (about 4x6 inches each), each large enough to cover an apple row. Place 1 dough rectangle on top of each apple row, pressing the dough edges gently onto the parchment paper to cover the apples.
- Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl. Brush the mixture over the dough mounds, then sprinkle evenly with the turbinado sugar.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the crust is puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven, and carefully flip each tart onto a plate so the apples are on top.
- Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce, a pinch of flaky sea salt, and vanilla ice cream.
- Enjoy!
